This is a 68-unit affordable independent senior residence in Grayslake, IL. The south side takes advantage of ample sunlight, and the north side opens up onto views of an adjacent lake with a large patio and outdoor fireplace. Each floor includes a lounge outside of a laundry room, for community gathering and socializing. The building enjoys geothermal heating and solar thermal water heating, keeping energy use and associated costs low.
I was able to lead this project from design through construction documentation. I worked with our BIM team to turn the design into an efficient set of contract documents, and helped coordinate prefabricated roof trusses that make up the complex roof shapes.
