We designed and constructed an Assisted Living addition to an existing senior residence campus, as a result of a multi-phase campus master planning effort that spanned several years. The Assisted Living building is based on the household model, with two residential households per floor over four floors. The first floor is devoted to memory care, with access to walking trails and gardens outside. The fourth floor features a full service dining room, and balconies and roof decks are positioned to be able to maximize visual access to each other as well as to the nearby commuter rail station.
This was my first project at Harley Ellis Devereaux, and I lead the production team, developing and producing the contract documents. This is where I learned the ins and outs of senior care, and how to coordinate larger projects.
Because of the client's satisfaction with the Assisted Living building, we are currently constructing a new main entry to the existing Skilled Nursing building, which I designed and carried through design development.
