This project re-imagines the Chicago public housing high rise. Many of Chicago's much-maligned public housing structures have been torn down over recent years to make way for lower-rise, mixed-income developments. Instead of a tear down, this study proposes that the existing, isolated high rise would be rehabilitated, and the surrounding land would be put to positive use with a senior center pavilion, raised bed gardens, and live/work units on site.
I worked with our studio to develop the concept and programming, and led the design effort. I produced 3D models of the building and site, and produced the presentation graphics. I also presented the project to the Chicago Housing Authority.
