This building will be downtown Austin's first car-free residential high rise. The tower is 31 stories tall and will be located next to the historic State and Paramount Theaters on Congress Avenue. A mix of restaurant, bar, rehearsal space, office, amenities, and residential microunits are all worked into a 42' wide structure. A unitized metal panel system wraps the tower on the east, west, and south sides, and the north side is fully glazed, allowing indirect light and full views of the Capitol Building.
I led the schematic design and design development efforts for this project, working with a great team of designers. This project is unique for me as our company is also involved in the development and financing of this tower. I worked closely with the development partners and the contractors to develop the skin system and unique structure that is required for such a slender tower. The project is currently in the construction documentation phase.
